Islamabad :
The ruling coalition’s two largest partners, the PML-N and the PPP, have been at loggerheads over the registration of cases against PTI leaders in different parts of the country over the Madina mosque incident.
According to the English magazine Dawn, background interviews with several senior leaders of both parties show that there is a general feeling within the ruling coalition that the government has reacted more to the issue and that the PTI The registration and prosecution of cases against the leaders of the party is now proving to be detrimental to the government while the PTI is benefiting at the public level.
Serious leaders of the two coalition governments believe that immediate action was taken against Pakistani visitors for chanting slogans and beating some members by Saudi officials, while Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s official delegation and the incident were widely condemned. The PTI was forced to take a defensive stance, but the government’s actions not only allowed the former ruling party to overcome its losses, but also presented itself as an oppressor.
Some protesters were seen chasing federal ministers Shahzain Bugti and Maryam Aurangzeb and trying to attack them, who were later rescued by bodyguards and police and taken away by a key member of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s cabinet and A PML-N official, speaking to Dawn on condition of anonymity, admitted that the sympathies of the people were with us in the beginning after the incident at Masjid-e-Nabawi and we could have benefited politically from it but our With the actions of some “friends”, public sentiment has begun to shift towards the PTI.
The minister reminded that the parties present in the government at the time had criticized Imran Khan in the past for using religion for political gain and said that some statements of politicians linking the incident to the registration of cases and the incident were blasphemous. The minister said that these actions and reactions have provided an opportunity for the perpetrators to present themselves as victims, which is now the concern of civil society and other sensible circles. Statements coming from the side show that they are opposed to the registration of blasphemy cases.
In response to a question, he claimed that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had not issued any directive in this regard and the matter was being handled entirely by Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah. Meanwhile, PML-N Federal Minister Javed Latif said. Opposing the government’s policy of registering an FIR against the PTI leadership over the Masjid-e-Nabawi incident in a TV program, he said that it would further strengthen the Imrani fitna. Disability expressed because it is not his party’s government alone.
He said that if this government was not mixed then I could have talked to the Prime Minister directly on this issue. Instead, the state should come forward and become a complainant to deal with the civil strife. After Javed Latif’s remarks on alleged links with Shahbaz Sharif’s Establishment, he has not had a cordial relationship with the Prime Minister. There are no men who have “petitioned” Prime Minister Shahbaz against taking an aggressive stance as this could have given Imran Khan more political advantage.
He said that some senior PML-N leaders were of the view that Imran Khan and his close associates should be exposed for their corruption and should not be dragged into religious affairs. In the incident, the PTI is openly opposing Shahbaz Sharif’s policy of implicating the leadership in lawsuits. Insiders added that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, known for his political conciliation, should not follow the advice of people like Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah to use religion to target political opponents.
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif also advised the government to avoid confrontation. Talking to a news channel, he said that he was not in favor of taking revenge on political opponents. Meanwhile, PPP secretary general and former senator Farhatullah Babar, through his Twitter handle, described the alleged intention to file blasphemy cases against rival PTI leaders as “extremely disturbing”, “insane and reprehensible”.
Farhatullah Babar said that in the past he has always opposed the use of religion-based laws as a weapon, now he opposes it and will continue to do so in the future. The more enlightened and liberal party declares and considers this to be its international impression. In this whole situation, the PPP thinks that in this situation, its enlightenment and liberal impression at the international level will be harmed.
Speaking to Dawn, the PPP leader urged the government to provide consular access to Pakistani visitors detained by Saudi authorities. Interestingly, the party leader made the demand.
What has Faisalabad, Attock and Islamabad police done despite their party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari being the foreign minister? Separate cases have been registered against more than 150 people, including Anil Mussarat, for desecrating the holy site.
On the other hand, PTI leaders termed the incident at Masjid-e-Nabawi as a sudden reaction against Imran Khan’s ouster from power. The party has already filed a writ petition in the Islamabad High Court through its vice president and former information minister Fawad Chaudhry. In the petition, Fawad Chaudhry has also accused Rana Sanaullah of targeting the PTI leadership, Dawn said. Despite repeated attempts, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah could not be reached for comment.
