Rawalpindi:
Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa called on the Director of the CIA, in which he praised the Pakistani role in the Afghan situation, including the withdrawal of foreign personnel and cooperation in other matters. The two officials discussed regional security and other issues.
A statement from the Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR) said that Director General CIA William Joseph Burns met with Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa. Also met
ISPR General Qamar Javed said that issues of mutual interest, including regional security and the situation in Afghanistan were discussed during the meeting. According to the spokesman, the Pakistani authorities reiterated their commitment to continue cooperation for peace in the region and to continue efforts for lasting peace in Afghanistan.
It should be noted that the CIA Director also appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for stability in the region and its cooperation in the evacuation of foreign personnel and other issues, including Pakistan’s role in the Afghan situation.
