KARACHI: IG Sindh Police Ghulam Nabi Memon has said that it has been decided to install CCTV cameras in all police stations across Sindh.

He said that work on this project has started in Karachi, it has started from District Central and installation process has been completed in most of the police stations, at least four cameras are being installed in one police station including main gate, duty officer. IG Ghulam Nabi Memon said that ordinary citizens usually complain that they are not treated properly by the police in the police station. After the installation of cameras, this complaint will be completely overcome. Only by correcting the culture of the police station can the distances between the police and the common man be bridged.
When asked about street crime, IG Sindh said that street crime is being reported all over the city and police are trying their best to bring down the graph of street crime. Various measures are being taken in this regard. While special attention is being paid to those who have been released on bail by the courts, those who have been granted bail by the accused are also being held in the grip of law.

To a question, he said that Karachi is a mega city and an overpopulated city but despite this we try our best to perform within our available resources. Under policing, more than 40,000 cameras have been installed so far by citizens and especially the business community.
Asked about the traffic police, the IG said that he also has a special eye on them, the most important issue is to maintain the flow of traffic, but when he was the Additional IG Karachi, he The challan was banned and this authority was given only to the competent officer but now a rule has been made under which the challan officers have been selected.
He said that using state-of-the-art technology, shoulder cameras have been ordered for the traffic police officers which will be handed over to them soon. Complaints can be overcome.
IG Sindh Police further said that if the traffic police officer did not record at the time of challan then it would be considered as his mistake and departmental action would be taken against him.
