The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has reserved its decision in the PTI’s prohibited foreign funding case. The hearing said that the principles and standards of audit were ignored in PTI funds, the donors were not third parties, the PTI leadership were self-made companies.
Petitioner Akbar S. Babar’s financial expert Arsalan Wardak while giving a briefing said that PTI received funding from Canada, USA, UK and Australia. Sources of funds from the country were not disclosed.
The Chief Election Commissioner said that Anwar Mansoor had also given his arguments on the lack of details of donors. According to PTI lawyer Anwar Mansoor, it was not mandatory to provide details of donors in the law at the time of funding.
Akbar Babar said that he was grateful that the Election Commission had given him the opportunity to look at all the records. He said that it was the best opportunity to hold political parties accountable.
On this occasion, the Chief Election Commissioner said that democracy is most important for the country which needs to be strengthened, it is necessary to restore the confidence of the voters, we will ensure that justice is done to all, I am grateful to both sides from the bottom of my heart. It is a matter of national interest. Soon the cases of other parties will also be finalized. We will ensure that no one is discriminated against.
Later, the Election Commission reserved its decision in the PTI prohibited funding case.
