Rana Shamim presented his statement in the affidavit court. The contempt of court case against Rana Shamim was heard under the chairmanship of Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Athar Minallah. Later, Rana Shamim’s lawyer Latif Afridi also reached the court room. The Chief Justice directed the judicial assistants to hand over the cell envelope to Latif Afridi. Latif Afridi did not want to open the envelope. Setting a date of January 7 for indictment, Chief Justice Athar Minallah remarked that the affidavit made the entire High Court suspicious.

Earlier, the Attorney General said that on December 7, it was ordered that Rana Shamim should submit the original affidavit to the court. According to the court order, only Rana Shamim would open the envelope and Rana Shamim would explain how the affidavit was leaked. He said that they do not open this sealed envelope nor Rana Shamim, they ask the Advocate General to open this sealed envelope.
Justice Athar Minallah said that the court had asked Rana Shamim to present the affidavit himself but did not ask him to send the sealed envelope. That this was the first courier service delivery I received, so as not to damage the affidavit.
The Chief Justice told Rana Shamim that it was his trust that reached us. Rana Shamim replied that he gave the sealed envelope to his granddaughter. There was an affidavit, the Chief Justice asked Rana Shamim, is this affidavit yours and did you seal it? To which Rana Shamim replied that yes this is my affidavit and envelope.
The Attorney General requested the High Court to look into this affidavit as well. The font is caliber, a copy of which should be provided to us. You will now keep it in your own custody. Later, the Islamabad High Court ordered re-sealing of the affidavit.
