Islamabad :
Yesterday, the no-confidence motion against Imran Khan was won by 174 votes and according to Assembly rules, a new Leader of the House must be appointed immediately to replace the sacked Prime Minister.
The National Assembly Secretariat has convened a meeting of the National Assembly on Monday at 2 pm for the appointment of a new Leader of the House and Shahbaz Sharif is the Prime Ministerial candidate from the United Opposition.
Shahbaz Sharif’s nomination papers were submitted by Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Naveed Qamar, Khurshid Shah, Mohsin Dawar, Ayaz Sadiq, Saad Rafique and Khawaja Asif while Shahbaz Sharif himself along with other members reached the Secretary National Assembly.
Every political party submitted nomination papers for Shahbaz Sharif as Leader of the House. Syed Naveed Qamar and Khurshid Shah from PPP filed nomination papers while Ayaz Sadiq, Saad Rafique and Khawaja Asif from PML-N filed nomination papers.
It may be recalled that the National Assembly Secretariat has fixed the time for submission of nomination papers at 4 pm instead of 2 pm while scrutiny of nomination papers will be done at 4:30 pm.
It may be recalled that earlier in the National Assembly, a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan was successful after which he did not remain the Prime Minister of the country and at the same time became the first Prime Minister of the country to be removed through mistrust.
