The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has taken important steps to provide free treatment to deserving patients by announcing free treatment for eight diseases including kidney, liver, bone marrow transplant and thalassemia.
According to details, Chief Minister Mehmood Khan has taken a revolutionary step for free treatment of deserving people. There will be free treatment of 8 diseases in the province including kidney, liver, bone marrow transplant and thalassemia. This decision was taken by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mehmood Khan. The meeting was chaired.
The issue of treatment of the said diseases under Health Card Plus Scheme or launching a separate program for the same was also discussed in the meeting. The Chief Minister directed to do homework on both the options and make suggestions. Mahmood Khan vowed to provide free treatment to deserving people for expensive diseases, adding that the government has a responsibility to take special care of the weaker sections.
Apart from Health Card Scheme, Food Card Scheme and Education Card Scheme were also discussed in the meeting. The Chief Minister said that under the proposed Food Card Scheme, free monthly ration would be provided to the deserving families, while under the Education Card Scheme. The government will pay for the education of deserving students.
Instructing the concerned authorities to finalize the implementation of the said schemes in 2-3 months, the Chief Minister said that he would ensure implementation of Education Card, Food Card and Kisan Card schemes.
