Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed while hearing the case related to the dilapidated condition of RCD Highway remarked that NHA was not doing any standard work while all the other highways except Lahore-Islamabad Motorway have been left unoccupied. He demanded a report on it.
The Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed, heard a case related to the dilapidated condition of RCD highways in which the court sought a report from the National Highways Authority on highways across the country. He also summoned the NHA in person.
During the hearing, the Chief Justice of Pakistan said that it should be explained why police were not deployed on Quetta-Karachi road for the protection of passengers. The deteriorating condition of high whiskey endangers the lives of the people. The condition of Quetta-Karachi road should be rectified to 100%.
Justice Gulzar Ahmed remarked that the reflectors and marking lines on the highways are substandard, the marking on the road is a victim of rain, the Chitral-Gilgit road was fully shown in the papers but the reality is the opposite.
The Chief Justice said that Quetta-Karachi road is not being made a model of motorway style. With the exception of Lahore-Islamabad motorway, all other highways have been left unoccupied. There are only stones on Chitral-Gilgit road.
Justice Gulzar further said that billions of rupees are spent on renovation of highways every year, Karachi-Hyderabad road is not being built from NHA, NHA is not doing any standard work.
