KARACHI: The polling time has ended in the NA-245 by-election of the National Assembly Constituency, the people in the polling station premises will be allowed to cast their votes, 1052 polling booths have been set up in 263 polling stations for the election.
The polling time for the by-election in the National Assembly constituency started at 8 am and continued till 5 pm without any break.
Out of total 263 polling stations in the constituency, 201 polling stations were declared highly sensitive and CCTV cameras were installed.
Strict security arrangements were made to deal with any kind of situation, besides 2700 police personnel, Pakistan Army and Rangers personnel were also deployed.
15 candidates are contesting in the by-election on the seat vacated due to the death of PTI’s Dr. Aamir Liaquat.
People of PECHS, Tariq Road, PIB Colony, Lions Area and Khudadad Colony among others will elect their representatives.
A tight contest is expected between MQM Pakistan’s Moeed Anwar and PTI’s candidate Mehmood Maulvi in the constituency. People’s Party and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam candidates have withdrawn in favor of MQM Pakistan’s candidate, while Dr. Farooq Sattar is contesting as an independent candidate.
Mohammad Ahmad Raza of Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan, Syed Hafeezuddin of Pak Sarzameen Party and Mohammad Shahid of Mahajir Qaumi Movement are also candidates.
