Riyadh : Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa was awarded the King Abdul Aziz Medal for his significant role in defense cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
A statement issued by the Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR) said that the Army Chief paid an official visit to Saudi Arabia. During the visit, General Qamar Javed Bajwa met Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman and Saudi officials in Jeddah. He called on the Chief of General Staff (CGS) of the Armed Forces, General Fayyaz bin Hamid Al-Rawili.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is also the kingdom’s first deputy prime minister and defense minister.
Issues of mutual interest, bilateral defense and security cooperation and regional peace and stability were discussed during the meetings.
The Army Chief said that Pakistan values its historical and fraternal relations with the state and recognizes its unique and prominent place in the Islamic world.
During the meeting, the two sides agreed to enhance defense cooperation in the areas of joint training, air defense, counter-terrorism, communications and information.
According to ISPR, the two sides also agreed to further enhance the friendly relations and deep feelings of brotherhood in a lasting strategic partnership as an advocate of the unity of the Muslim Ummah in the region and a key player in this great responsibility.
The official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that Prince Muhammad bin Salman praised General Qamar Javed Bajwa for his significant efforts in further strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation and promoting Pak-Saudi Arabia relations. Abdul Aziz awarded Medal of Excellent Class.
The SPA report said that General Qamar Javed Bajwa was received by Prince Muhammad bin Salman with whom he discussed many important issues.
During the meeting, bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the field of military cooperation and opportunities for their development were reviewed.
During the meeting, the two sides also discussed various issues of mutual interest.
The SPA further reported that following the orders of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman awarded the King Abdul Aziz Medal of Excellent Class to the Commander-in-Chief of the Pakistan Army.
According to the report, the award was given to the Pakistan Army Chief for strengthening relations, friendship, cooperation and Pakistan. In recognition of his significant efforts to promote Saudi Arabia’s relations.
Saudi Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Fayyaz Al-Rawili and senior officials of the two countries were present on the occasion.
