KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced to run a dedicated Pink People’s Bus service for women in Karachi.
The decision to run Pink People’s Bus Service in Karachi was made in a meeting chaired by Provincial Minister for Transport Sharjeel Inam.
Provincial Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon says that Pink People’s Bus Service will be started from February 1. Model Colony, Shahrah-e-Faisal to Tower route has been selected for the first route of Pink People’s Bus Service.
The provincial minister further said that the pink bus service will run every 20 minutes during office hours in the morning and evening hours. Pink bus service will run every one hour during normal hours after office hours.
The meeting also reviewed the operations of People’s Bus Service in Sukkur, Larkana, Hyderabad and the launch of Route 4, 5, 6 and 7 in Karachi. Provincial Minister directed to start People’s Bus Service in Sukkur on January 29.
The provincial minister also directed the MD Sindh Mass Transit Authority to visit the remaining routes of the People’s Bus Service in Karachi and assess the improvement of the roads.
Sharjeel Inam Memon said that buses should be run on routes 4, 5, 6 and 7 of Karachi as soon as possible so that more and more citizens have the facility of modern public transport. Secretary Transport Abdul Halim Sheikh, MD Sindh Mass Transit Authority Zubair Chana, Operations Manager NRTC Abdul Shakur participated in the meeting.
