National Security Advisor Dr. Moeed Yousuf said that National Security Policy is for 5 years, not all things are fulfilled in one year. Speaking on a program on private TV channel ARY News, National Security Advisor Dr. Moeed Yousuf said that the National Security Policy is for 5 years. Not everything is fulfilled in one year. Security policy will be reviewed annually.
He said that the new government can change the policy, all stakeholders should not be politicized or criticized on the national security policy taken in confidence, if anyone wants to make a suggestion, he should give it. He said that the policy is for resolving issues related to national security, where there are weaknesses under the policy, they will be rectified.
National Security Advisor Dr. Moeed Yousuf clarified that there is a civil and military consensus on the policy but there is no need for consensus on the national security policy from the opposition. The opposition was invited for talks on the national security policy. It may be recalled that Pakistan’s first national security policy was issued yesterday. Prime Minister Imran Khan, members of the Federal Cabinet, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Chiefs of Armed Forces also attended the inauguration ceremony of National Security Policy in Islamabad.
Half of the more than 100-page policy is being made public. Economic security has been given a central position in the national security policy. For the first time in Pakistan, a comprehensive policy on national security has been formulated. The security policy will be reviewed on an annual basis.
