The Prime Minister’s Office has said that a team of economists from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will come to Pakistan on an “emergency visit” to implement the decisions of the leadership of the two countries.
The announcement comes a day after Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s three-day visit to Saudi Arabia following taking office.
During his visit, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
During the meeting, the leaders discussed the long-standing relations between the two countries and the prospects for further cooperation in various fields.
According to the Emirates News Agency, the two leaders reviewed a number of regional and global issues of common concern.
The two leaders met at Qasr al-Shati Palace. During the meeting, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi expressed his best wishes for the success of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in leading Pakistan towards further development and prosperity in the days to come.
Various tweets from the Prime Minister’s Office today said that a delegation of economists was visiting Pakistan to ensure implementation of the decisions taken during the meeting a day earlier.
A delegation of UAE experts will also meet Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Lahore on May 3 to discuss proposals and recommendations for enhancing economic activities between Pakistan and the UAE.
The tweets from the Prime Minister’s Office further said that talks would be held to promote economic, trade and investment activities between the two countries and the visiting delegation would be briefed on the investment climate in Pakistan and Opportunities will be reported.
Besides, cooperation in power, petroleum and industrial sectors will be discussed during the delegation’s visit to Pakistan.
It may be recalled that last year marked the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.
The Gulf state also decided to lend 2 2 billion to Pakistan in April 2021, while the UAE Foreign Minister reiterated his commitment to all possible cooperation for Pakistan.
Later in the year, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum also reiterated his commitment to further strengthen multilateral bilateral relations in a meeting with President Dr. Arif Alawi.
