Benjamin Netanyahu’s trip to the UAE was postponed because Jordan refused to allow his plane to fly over the country.
Some believe that this incident is a sign of the depth of the crisis between the two sides and that Amman responded to the obstruction of the Zionist regime on the way to the visit of Jordanian Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah to Al-Aqsa Mosque.
But the fact is that the crisis between Jordan and Netanyahu is deeper than the issue of travel and has reasons, one of the most important of them is the Zionist regime’s attempt to limit the control of the Jordanian ruling family over Palestinian shrines such as Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Another reason is that Tel Aviv wants to take these sanctuaries out of Jordan’s control and hand them over to Al-Saud as part of a century-old deal, and eventually take over.
Another cause of the crisis was the visit of Siri Bani Gantz, the Israeli Minister of War and leader of the Blue and White Party, to Jordan, and his meeting with King Abdullah II, who is known to be one of Netanyahu’s fierce rivals.
Meanwhile, Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi, Netanyahu’s other rival met with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman al-Safadi.
Therefore, the secret trips of Netanyahu’s rivals to Jordan and Aman’s unwillingness to interact with Netanyahu angered him and escalated tensions between the two sides.
However, after former US President Donald Trump declared Jerusalem the capital of the Zionist regime and Netanyahu announced his intention to annex the West Bank and the Jordan Valley to the Zionist regime, relations between Jordan and Netanyahu became very strained.
Meanwhile, some believe that the UAE may have conspired with Jordan to prevent Netanyahu’s ambassador to Abu Dhabi, thus waiting for the outcome of the upcoming Israeli elections to be determined, but some say that the main reason for the postponement may be Netanyahu’s visit to the UAE is due to the fact that the new US administration is waiting for a prime minister in Israel other than Netanyahu so that Netanyahu will not be able to use his visit to the UAE for his election purposes.
On the other hand, the Israeli Minister of War, taking advantage of the postponement of Netanyahu’s visit to the UAE, saying Netanyahu’s behavior in recent years has severely damaged Israeli-Jordanian relations.
At the same time, the Israeli press wrote that the deferment of Netanyahu’s visit to the UAE was a major setback for Netanyahu’s foreign policy.
For this reason, and given the imminence of the Israeli elections, it can be said the Jordanian move, on the one hand, thwarted Netanyahu’s election campaign success regarding his foreign policy, and on the other hand, was a strong blow to Netanyahu’s political position and has appeared to be a real danger to his political career.
