What is Charles looking for in Afghanistan?
Simultaneously with the coronation ceremony of Charles III, despite the opposition of many British people to the monarchy system, the behavior of some media in showing the human rights face of the British King regarding Afghanistan is worthy of consideration.
In this regard; In a video report with a lot of flair, the BBC mentioned Charles’s trips to Afghanistan and showed pictures of the awarding of service medals in Afghanistan to the soldiers of the 1st Battalion of the Royal Rifles at Sir John Moore Barracks in June 2019.
In the continuation of this report, it is claimed that; Charles III made a surprise trip to Afghanistan in 2010 when he was Crown Prince of the United Kingdom, visiting Kabul and Helmand. Firouzkoh Institute was established in 2006 at the request of Hamid Karzai, the then President of Afghanistan and with the support of Charles III when he was the British Crown Prince, to revive the traditional handicrafts of Afghanistan and rebuild the old city of Kabul. This foundation renovated hundreds of old houses in the Muradkhani area of Kabul and established the Institute of Traditional Arts and Architecture in Kabul, where about 200 students were trained annually. Charles III has paid special attention to refugees from Afghanistan in Britain since he came to the British kingdom and has met with a number of them.
A look at the 20-year track record of British presence in Afghanistan and its behavior towards the Afghan people since 2021, or the same time when the occupiers left the country, shows a track record full of crime, killing and destruction.
The published documents tell about the commission of war crimes and anti-humanity by the special military forces of the British army during the occupation of Afghanistan and the killing of civilians and a group of unarmed and detained people.
For example, a military unit of the British army killed 54 people in a period of six months, and the former commander of the special forces of the British army refused to provide documents related to these crimes.
