Which country will fill the vacancy of the Saudis in Lebanon?
By withdrawing its foot from the Lebanese scene, Saudi Arabia has opened the door for its two other rivals, the UAE and Qatar, and each of these two countries is trying to fill the gap.
After the Saudi political crisis against Lebanon, first under the pretext of the statements of the Lebanese Minister of Information “George Qardahi” and after making public his real intention in his policies against Lebanon, which is the removal of Hezbollah from the Lebanese scene, the question arises who Will Saudi Arabia fill the gap in Lebanon?
Al-Ahd news website published a note with this axis that in order to answer this question and be aware of what is happening in the region, one should pay attention to the centers of several conflicts between the three Gulf states, namely Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar. If one of these three parties comes out of any country, the other two parties will try to take his place. Lebanon is no exception.
Accordingly, after the political separation of Saudi Arabia from Lebanon and the consequent withdrawal of the country from the Lebanese scene, the UAE and Qatar are trying to fill this gap.
“Mohammad Baqir Yassin”, the author of this memo, goes on to refer to the UAE’s three recent movements to read the UAE’s position, which are:
Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed traveled to Turkey, which was considered his main enemy, and concluded 12 contracts! The UAE has also set up a $ 10 billion investment fund, which will help strengthen the Turkish lira after depreciating against the US dollar.
– A delegation from the UAE to Iran and announced the opening of a new page in relations between the two countries. This is a clear distinction from Saudi Arabia’s position on Iran.
– The visit of “UAE Foreign Minister” Abdullah bin Zayed to Syria, which has several consequences, including:
1- Recognizing the victory of Syria after the defeat of the Persian Gulf countries in overthrowing it and as a result the defeat of the Persian Gulf project.
2- Trying to revive the relations of the Arab countries with Syria and as a result pave the way for its return to the Arab League.
– The UAE’s desire to achieve economic benefits through the projects it will present, which will be led by Reconstruction.
“The UAE, through its ambassador, Hamad al-Shamsi, and also through the businessman Khalaf al-Habtour, who explicitly supports Lebanese figures in the north, and various activities for the so-called “He financed the October 17 revolution – he is on the Lebanese stage with power.”
Based on this, it can be said that the UAE is very interested in Lebanon and it is not surprising that it can help support the Lebanese currency by depositing in the Central Bank or projects in an investment fund similar to what it did to support the Turkish lira.
According to the memo, the UAE knows that its gateway to rebuilding Syria will inevitably be from Lebanon, so it will work hard to improve relations with Lebanon, even if it leads to a distinction from Saudi Arabia’s position in the three areas we have already mentioned.
