The “Soundstorm” music festival hosted by Saudi Arabia started its work for the fourth consecutive year since 2019.
CNN news site wrote that this music festival is one of the biggest and loudest music festivals in the world, where about 730 thousand people participated last year.
At the same time, Electric Daisy Carnival, which is held in Las Vegas, USA, and is considered the largest music festival in North America, had only about 400 thousand participants this year.
Every winter, within three days, hundreds of thousands of people from all over Saudi Arabia and the entire Middle East go to a desert place outside Riyadh, the capital of this country, to witness the most important musical activity of the West and the Arab world.
The CNN news site raised the question why Saudi Arabia, which was known as the cradle of Islam, is hosting this musical event, even though only 6 years ago, this country considered holding any concert as haram.
According to Arab News, Saudi Arabia is now witnessing more than 64 billion dollars of investment in the field of recreation and entertainment, a large part of which is allocated to the live music and singing industry. Meanwhile, more than 3,800 entertainment events have been held in the country, in which more than 80 million people have participated.
The holding of such celebrations has been accompanied by many criticisms, and many consider this move by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to improve his shaky image in the international eyes.
