Suspected death of “Nizar Banat” and deteriorating situation in the West Bank; Will Abu Mazen fall?
With the official announcement of the death of Nizar Khalil Mohammad Banat, the main opponent of the PA, a wave of anger against Abu Mazen and Ramallah’s security apparatus swept the West Bank.
On Thursday morning, Palestinian Authority Nizar Khalil Mohammed Banat, a member of the Palestinian Authority, was arrested at his home in Hebron in the southwest. Hours after his arrest, Al-Khalil State Hospital witnessed the lifeless body of Nizar, while the effects of my beating on his body remained.
Violent arrest
According to some eyewitnesses, including the victim’s cousin, 25 security forces stormed Nizar Banat’s house at 3:35 p.m. They enter his house when the windows and doors of the house explode, and Nizar Banat is severely beaten and taken out of the house. Numerous blows to the head and body, spraying of incendiary gases on his face, and his complete nakedness were among the aggressive actions of the security apparatus, but what eyewitnesses have admitted is that he was alive when he left the house by the security officers.
But hours after Nizar Banat was evacuated from his home, his lifeless body arrived at Al-Khalil State Hospital, where he was pronounced dead of a stroke, although he was pronounced dead of a fatal heart attack.
According to one of the doctors who were present during the autopsy, his death was not normal but occurred due to severe blows to him.
Popular protests
Since Friday, with the funeral of Nizar Banat, huge demonstrations have taken place in the cities of Hebron and Ramallah. The protests continued on Saturday. The protesters demanded an immediate investigation into the causes of Nizar Banat’s death and the punishment of the perpetrators of his death, calling for an end to the PA’s cooperation with the Zionist regime.
During the protests of these two days, serious slogans were raised against Mahmoud Abbas and the security apparatus of the self-government.
Reason for arrest
According to local media, the day before his arrest, Nizar Banat spoke on his social media page about the case of counterfeit vaccines and the past history of Corona, which had been prepared for the Palestinian people by some elements of the security apparatus and affiliated with the Palestinian Authority.
On the other hand, some Palestinian media outlets, referring to Nasser Saeed as Nasser Banat, described the Palestinian Authority as the killer of its opponents. Nasser Saeed was a Saudi dissident who was abducted by Saudi security forces in the 1970s and thrown off a plane.
Oliver Levy, a writer for the Zionist newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, called the killing of Nizar Banat similar to the murder of Saudi opposition Jamal Khashgeji, comparing the Palestinian Authority to the Saudi government.
The killing of Nizar Banat Atash seems to have sparked a full-scale protest against the Palestinian Authority and Abu Mazen. Palestine, now we have to see whether the PA will survive the flood of these popular protests or we will have to wait for its collapse in the near future.
