As the world prepares to celebrate World Al-Quds Day, Al-Quds is witnessing a struggle for survival; Palestinians living in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, located in the center of the occupied city, are being displaced by the Zionist regime, which is trying to occupy the neighborhood completely.
The battle for survival in this holy city of Sheikh Jarrah is not a battle for the Palestinians who were born in this city, but a battle for survival for the Muslim Ummah.
When some reactionary regimes in the Arab world kissed the Zionists’ feet and normalized their relations with Israel, the true position of the Muslim Ummah was taken away, but on the contrary, some countries are opposed to surrendering and determined to fight arrogance, and so the facts changed. And every time the enemy thinks of aggression, he goes one step further.
Today’s events in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood should be viewed from a different perspective. This neighborhood is not the last one to be usurped by the occupying regime, and the settlers in this neighborhood in the last few days have taken actions that seem to be the real owners of the land. For about a month now, the occupying forces have been shooting and detaining dozens of unarmed youths in Jerusalem, but these youths are determined to continue resisting the occupiers of their land and will not leave the field.
Moreover, Palestinians have slammed social media companies for shutting down their personal accounts and censoring content about attacks on residents and activists by Israeli forces and settlers in the occupied East Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah.
Over the past week, residents of Sheikh Jarrah, as well as Palestinian and international solidarity activists, have attended nightly vigils to support the Palestinian families under threat of forced displacement.
The Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem do not ask the Arab rulers for weapons and ammunition, but for them to acknowledge their own mistakes, which they have made for decades in interaction with the Zionist regime, ignoring the blood of the Palestinian martyrs and competing with each other for normalizing relations with Israel.
