It has been a while since the Syrian scene has once again witnessed the creation of tension by the United States, the field and political movements in eastern Syria are proof of it.
The increase in the activities of the American army in eastern Syria and the areas occupied by the Kurdish militias (SDF) and the recent tensions with Russia in several parts of Syria at the same time as the conflict between terrorists in the northwest, as well as political propaganda and accusations against the resistance front, indicate new developments in the Syrian scene.
According to local sources in Deir Ezzor province, the American coalition in Syria has strengthened its positions in eastern Syria for some time and sent more military equipment to its bases.
In the meantime, the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar has written that the US has increased the number of its troops in Syria to 1,500. Yeni Shafaq Turkish newspaper also reported on Thursday last week that the United States has used the “increasing threats from Russia and Iran” as an excuse to send more troops to Syria, and announced last week at the NATO meeting in Lithuania that it intends to send 2,500 new troops to Syria.
At the same time, local sources in eastern Syria have reported that the United States, by taking advantage of the poor living conditions of the residents of eastern Syria, is recruiting more mercenaries from among local people and training them in Raqqa province and Al-Tanf military base located in the border triangle of Syria, Iraq and Jordan.
The official Syrian TV also reported, quoting local sources, that the United States has deployed the Himars missile system in its largest military base in Deir ez-Zor.
These movements come after a high-ranking official of the US Department of Defense told the Associated Press on July 16 (July 25) that his country is considering several options to deal with Russia’s “increasingly hostile actions” in Syria; He did not give an explanation about these options and only claimed that Washington will not leave the areas under its control in the east and northeast of Syria.
The US official also said that coordination between Russia, Iran, and the Syrian government has increased to pressure the US to withdraw from Syria. He said that America is in the process of exchanging security information between Russia and Iran’s Quds Force in Syria in order to put pressure on America.
Captagon intrigue
In continuation of these field movements, a propaganda and political campaign has also been started by the political and media of the West and accuses the resistance groups based in Syria of drug trafficking, especially “Captagon” psychoactive pills.
An informed Syrian source told Lebanon’s Al-Akhbar that the United States has used the issue of drugs as an excuse for its presence in Syria, as it had previously used the ISIS case as an excuse.
He added: “The increase of the mentioned rumors may provide the ground for the expected confrontations between the American forces or the forces supported by Washington on the one hand and the resistance factions on the other.”
