Is Pakistan under pressure from America because of its relations with Iran and China?
The consolidation of Pakistan’s bilateral relations with its important neighbors Iran and China has always been under the scrutiny of the Americans and Washington has always created disturbances for Pakistan, and therefore, observers in Pakistan express concern about the American pressure on Pakistan due to the strengthening of bilateral relations with its powerful neighbors.
Ms. Afrin Mirza, an expert in the economic field and political developments of Pakistan, in a note for the Geo news website, addressed the deadlock in the country’s negotiations with the International Monetary Fund to revive the 6.5 billion dollar loan program and raised the question that Are Americans using the International Monetary Fund to put pressure on Pakistan?
He further wrote: Pakistan, with a lack of liquidity, has a history of violating the obligations and conditions provided by the International Monetary Fund in the last resort, but this country has to revive the financial aid from this international organization to save itself from the turbulent waves caused by the economic crisis. Yes, but it seems that this solution has also become impossible for Pakistani statesmen.
This Pakistani expert stated that it is likely that the United States’ concern about Islamabad’s desire to strengthen bilateral relations with Tehran and Beijing as key powers in the region is the reason for the impasse in Pakistan’s negotiations with the International Monetary Fund.
The coalition government in Pakistan is facing a series of problems, at the top of which is the lack of leniency of Washington-based lenders towards Islamabad. At the same time, some in Pakistan believe that the failure of negotiations with the International Monetary Fund is due to the political point of view, the main focus of which is Pakistan’s tendency towards Iran and China.
