How did some media misrepresent the incident of the Quran being burned in Sweden?
With the permission of the Swedish police and the green light of the country’s security forces, the world once again witnessed the desecration of the Holy Quran in Stockholm. This time, the perpetrator of the heinous act of Koran burning was an Iraqi refugee who disrespected and insulted the beliefs of 1 billion 800 million Muslims in the world near the main mosque of Stockholm on the first day of Eid al-Adha under full security.
After the desecration of the Quran, many Muslim countries of the world reacted to it, and Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Turkey, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council, Kuwait, Palestine, Lebanon, Egypt, etc. They condemned immorality.
The protest even went so far that some countries such as Morocco recalled their ambassador from Sweden, and in Iran, “Nasser Kanani”, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of our country, in response to the permission and green light given by Sweden to anti-Islamists to repeat the insult to The Holy Qur’an stated: Creating grounds for repeating the desecration of the heavenly sanctuaries, especially at the same time as the holy days of the Islamic Ummah and also the gathering of millions of Muslims in the World Hajj Congress, is a provocative, ill-considered and unacceptable action.
Referring to the efforts of the international community and human rights organizations to promote respect for religions and authentic religious teachings, Kanani clarified that “insulting the holy books is an example of violence and spreading hatred and is contrary to the original values of human rights.”
Behavior measurement of the Swedish police and media error from the Western positions
Contrary to the official positions of the relevant authorities and institutions of our country, unfortunately, some media were unable to understand and analyze the issue and reflected the issue in a way that is far from reality.
The most important media error is related to the reflection and focus on the positions of the Swedish and American authorities. Despite the fact that such permits have been issued by the Swedish police in coordination with other official bodies of this country, some people are maneuvering the criticism of Swedish Prime Minister Olaf Christosson that “every legal issue is not necessarily an appropriate issue” or the positions of the US State Department that They highlight the burning of the Koran as “annoying and offensive”!
The excitement over the news that the “Swedish police filed a complaint against the person who burned the Koran”, even if it is true, has nothing to do with the desecration and disrespect of Hatakan and is related to the mayhem after the incident.
The story was that when this radical Swedish citizen, under the support of the authorities of this country, in front of about 200 people, tried to tear the pages of the Holy Quran and set it on fire, the people present protested against this offensive action with the shouts of “Allahu Akbar”. Someone tried to throw stones at him, but the police arrested him.
