Atwan: Saudi Arabia has isolated itself / More than 400 million Arabs support Lebanon.
Saudi Arabia’s escalation of tensions against Lebanon under the pretext of publishing remarks by its Minister of Media, George Qardahi, about the war in Yemen has become one of the most important news in the region these days. More than two months ago, before taking over the ministry post in the Lebanese government, George Qardahi, as a media personality, told an Al Jazeera tribune that “the Ansarullah movement has not raped anyone and has defended itself against the rape.” “The war in Yemen is a futile war that must end as soon as possible.”
But the publication of this interview in the current period and in the midst of numerous Lebanese crises has become a pretext for Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries to create tension to achieve their goals in Lebanon.
In this regard, Abdul Bari Atwan, a prominent analyst in the Arab world and editor-in-chief of the Rai Al-Youm newspaper, examined the issue in his article: Iran and its affiliated groups are in the region. The United States and Israel are trying to force Iran to back down from its peaceful nuclear program or launch a military strike. It is certain that Saudi Arabia and its three Gulf allies, which expelled their ambassadors from Lebanon, are now the main parties to this plan.
Atwan went on to cite a recent report by Dennis Ross, a former US envoy to the Middle East who claimed; “Iran intends to build an atomic bomb, so the United States must destroy Iran’s nuclear facilities,” he said. These are Israel and the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf. These five indicators are as follows;
– The first indicator is related to the news report that Reuters published about the patrolling of a giant American bomber next to an F-15 Zionist fighter in the skies of the Arabian Peninsula and the Persian Gulf and was in the form of a threatening message for Iran.
– The second case was related to the remarks of “Faisal bin Farhan”, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, at the G20 summit, who stated; “The Saudi crisis with Lebanon is due to Hezbollah’s domination and Lebanon must be freed from this domination. Also, the negotiations with Iran have been stopped and no optimistic progress has been made, and therefore no date has been set for the next round of negotiations.” Shows that George Qardahi is the victim of this incident.
The third case is the severe aggression of Zionist fighters on the northern outskirts of Damascus.
– The fourth indicator is related to the recent military maneuver of the occupying Zionist regime with various weapons, which simulates a comprehensive war in which thousands of soldiers and security forces have participated to deal with the unrest in the Arab villages; The unrest that will arise in the event of a possible war with Iran. The maneuver involves how Israeli settlers live in villages, towns and shelters for long periods of time and counter thousands of missiles that target the occupied territories from several fronts, including southern Lebanon and Gaza.
– The fifth issue is the remarks of “Naftali Bennett”, the Prime Minister of the Zionist regime, who said in his speech at the UN General Assembly last month; “Iran’s nuclear program has reached a crucial stage, and our tolerance as well …, we will not allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons.”
“Many of these threats are not new,” Atwan continued. Just as the targeting of the American base “Al-Tanf” in Syria was a response to the Zionist regime’s aggression against “Tadmor”, it is not unreasonable to expect other responses with greater size and effectiveness. The missiles that targeted the US embassy in Baghdad may be a warning signal that the next attack may be against the Ein al-Assad base in Anbar.
