Srinagar: Dr Bilqees Shah, wife of Shabir Ahmed Shah, senior leader of All Party Hurriyat Conference, illegally detained in Occupied Kashmir, has demanded release of all Kashmiris detained in Indian jails, including her husband. All imprisoned Kashmiris should be released or transferred to Kashmir jails.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Dr. Balqis Shah, who is a doctor by profession, wrote on his Facebook page that my husband Shabir Ahmed Shah and other Kashmiris detained in Tihar and other Indian jails in New Delhi should be released and if not released. At the very least, they should be transferred to jails in the occupied territories.
Dr. Balqis Shah’s call for the release of her husband and other illegally detained Kashmiris comes at a time when the Corona epidemic has taken its worst shape across India and millions of people are suffering from the deadly epidemic every day. And in this critical situation, the lives of hundreds of Kashmiris imprisoned in Indian jails are also in grave danger.
It is to be noted that Shabbir Ahmad Shah was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate of the Indian Investigation Agency in 2017 in false cases and he has been lodged in the notorious Tihar Jail in New Delhi ever since. Asiya Andrabi, Nahida Nasreen, Fehmida Sufi, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Pir Saifullah, Merajuddin Kalwal, Naeem Khan, Shahidul Islam, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Syed Shahid Yusuf Shah, Syed Shakeel Yusuf Shah, Zahoor Ahmad Vitali and others. Tihar is lodged in jail.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Democratic Freedom Party in a statement issued from Srinagar expressed grave concern over the continued illegal detention of Shabbir Ahmed Shah and other Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders and called on international human rights bodies to release them. Play your part for
