According to the Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR), Army chief and Saudi Foreign Minister had an important meeting . Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud has assured Pakistan of Saudi Arabia’s “unwavering support” and praised Pakistan’s effort in the “promotion of peace and stability in the region.”
The statement said that the Saudi Foreign Minister met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa in Rawalpindi to discuss bilateral interests, the security situation in the region, including the Afghanistan peace process, and regional peace and connectivity. Discussed issues of mutual cooperation.
Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that Saudi-Pakistan relations were based on “brotherhood and mutual trust” and the two countries would continue to play their role for peace and stability.
The statement added that he also thanked the Saudi leadership for supporting Pakistan and its armed forces. Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday on a one-day visit.
He had said that after the visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan in May, he had a follow-up visit in which we ensured the establishment of the Saudi-Pakistan Supreme Coordination Council (SPSC).
The Saudi minister’s visit was at the invitation of his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi and he also addressed a press conference in Islamabad.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud had said during the press conference that the state wants to expand the scope of its relations with Pakistan through SPSCC.
He emphasized the importance of enhancing economic ties, saying that it was the focus of his talks with Shah Mehmood Qureshi before the press conference.
“We have focused on the economic aspect of the relationship and the opportunities to expand beyond the traditional areas of investment,” Farhan al-Saud said.
He added that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to work together to ensure stability in each other’s territories.
“We have agreed to work on regional issues such as Kashmir, Palestine or Yemen. We will work together to ensure stability in our two regions,” he said.
