According to media reports, after the release of 62 more Pakistanis in Saudi Arabian jails, they arrived in Pakistan on a special flight.
In a message on the social networking site Twitter, he wrote: “Funds were raised on my orders and a special flight carrying 62 Pakistani prisoners returned home from Saudi Arabia to celebrate Eid with their families.
The Prime Minister further said, “My government promises to its people to help Pakistanis in prisons abroad and to help them return home.”
Riyadh and Islamabad agreed in May to repatriate 2,000 Pakistani prisoners held in Saudi Arabian jails.
Earlier in February 2019, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman visited Islamabad and agreed to release 2,107 prisoners at the behest of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Later in October, an official from the Overseas Pakistan Foundation told the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Rights that 579 Pakistanis had been released in Saudi Arabia under a royal pardon.
