Islamabad :
On the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, Pakistan has strongly reacted to the ban on Eid-ul-Adha gatherings and animal sacrifices in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and condemned the Indian move. Such a move is a clear violation of the fundamental right to religious freedom.
Foreign Office spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry said in a statement that Pakistan strongly condemned the ban on Eid-ul-Adha gatherings and animal sacrifices by Indian authorities on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that the ban on Eid prayers and religious gatherings on the most important day in the history of Islam was a reflection of the Indian government’s insult and prejudice against the sentiments of the Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir under Indian illegal occupation. It is a clear violation of the truth.
Pakistan has called on the international community, the United Nations and other human rights bodies to take notice of the violation of the Kashmiri people’s right to religion and liberty and violations of international laws and conventions.
He said that India should be aware of the fact that such measures could not stifle the aspirations of Kashmiris and their feelings of freedom from illegal Indian occupation. Pakistan reiterates its commitment to support the birthright of Kashmiris, the right to self-determination, as promised in UN Security Council resolutions.
