The current situation in Afghanistan has deteriorated following the withdrawal of US troops from the country and the possibility of a resurgence of the Taliban Islamist movement in the country.
According to the Foundation for the Defense of Democracy, the Taliban have taken control of at least 212 parts of Afghanistan so far, and the Afghan government controls only 70 parts of the country. The fate of the other 116 sections is still shrouded in mystery.
