Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian described the agreement as the result of 13 years of rigorous negotiations and the product of multilateral diplomacy, which is also supported by Security Council Resolution 2231, at a press conference on the occasion of the sixth anniversary of the Security Council.
He continued: “JCPOA is a classic example of resolving disputes through dialogue and consultation and a key element in achieving a non-proliferation regime and strengthening peace and stability in the Middle East (West Asia and North Africa).”
Zhao added: “China believes that full and effective implementation of the agreement is the only effective way to resolve the Iranian nuclear issue, and welcomes the fact that the United States is seeking a return to the IAEA, while the US must take concrete steps to regain trust.”
Referring to the Vienna talks, the Chinese diplomat continued: “Talks on the resumption of JCPOA commitments have entered the final stage.” All parties have shown their political will to reach an agreement. But there are still some differences that need to be resolved. The United States must make an immediate decision to lift all unilateral and illegal sanctions against Iran and third parties. Iran must also fully resume its commitments.
Finally, Zhao added: “We will work with all parties to build consensus and resolve disputes and return JCPOA to the main path as soon as possible. No matter how the situation progresses, China will always stand on the right side of history, advocate for justice, pursue a diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear issue, and protect the non-proliferation regime and peace and stability in the Middle East. will do. At the same time, we will strongly protect our legitimate rights and interests.
