Arrest of a key ISIS leader in Mosul.
Iraqi sources reported the arrest of a key ISIS leader, known as the ISIS security lion, in Nenawa in the northwest of the country, claiming that the ISIS leader was responsible for transporting Takfiri explosives.
The Iraqi Security Intelligence Agency announced the arrest of a prominent ISIS leader by the Nenawah police in northwestern Iraq.
The statement said: “Nenavah police forces, after receiving accurate information and during continuous monitoring, succeeded in arresting the prominent leader of ISIL.” He was responsible for transporting explosives inside the city of Mosul.
The Iraqi Security Information Agency said: “During the occupation of Mosul by ISIS, he was in charge of the special oil committee of the Takfiri treasury, and according to his own confession, he was wounded during the battle for the liberation of Mosul, and the wounds on his body are visible.”
The ISIS leader, known as “Asad al-Amniya” (ISIL security lion), was arrested in the “Koi al-Yarmouk” area on the right bank of Mosul.
The Iraqi Explosive Ordnance Disposal Authority announced that the attack on a power tower in Salah al-Din province was foiled, after explosives disposal experts were informed that a suspicious object had been spotted in the village of al-Salam in Tikrit. A team of experts immediately rushed to the scene and two improvised explosive devices attached to the masts were defused.
The Iraqi Ministry of Water Affairs announced in a statement the attack on one of its affiliated offices in Karbala province, stating: “The purpose of this action was to intimidate our employees and prevent them from performing their duties.”
Some video files show dozens of clubs attacking the Karbala Water Authority while its staff were working. The assailants dropped the files on the ground and destroyed the contents of the building.
