China: The reason of unrest in Afghanistan is United States.
A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said the United States should not take responsibility for calming the situation in Afghanistan and avoid fighting when it’s the prominent reason of chaos in first place.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said the United States was responsible for stopping the unrest in Afghanistan.
“Currently, the situation in Afghanistan is at a critical juncture between war and peace and chaos and order, which poses great challenges,” Wenbin told a news conference on Thursday, according to the Chinese embassy in Washington.
“Although the United States has essentially completed the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, it remains responsible for helping the nation maintain stability, halt unrest, and achieve peace and reconstruction,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said.
“The United States, as the culprit in the start of the Afghanistan issue, must act responsibly to ensure a smooth transfer of power in Afghanistan,” Wenbin said. The United States should not take this responsibility on others and simply escape the battle. “Efforts must be made to ensure that the withdrawal of foreign troops does not lead to turmoil and conflict.”
“China has always believed that political negotiations are the only right way to resolve the Afghan issue,” he said. We call on the parties to return to peaceful negotiations and prioritize the interests of the country and its people, to maintain the impetus for inter-Afghan dialogue, to take a moderate path to the Taliban return to the mainstream of politics, and to provide a broad framework for the political future. “Let them build this country and establish the foundation of lasting peace in Afghanistan.”
“China is ready to join the countries of the region and the international community in actively pursuing inter-Afghan talks and peace and reconstruction in that country,” Webinbin said.
The United States and other NATO members invaded Afghanistan in 2001 in response to the 9/11 attacks on the United States, and have continued their military presence and occupation in Afghanistan ever since.
Following the February 2020 agreement between the United States and the Taliban and the signing of a “peace agreement” between the two sides, the withdrawal of US troops and allies from Afghanistan began.
