Islamabad :
President Dr. Arif Alawi has said that India is providing training and financial support to the militants using Afghan soil for terrorism in Pakistan. The President while talking to the Commander of Turkish Armed Forces General Amit Dandar said that Pakistan is concerned about India’s involvement in terrorist activities and the use of Afghanistan’s territory against it.
Referring to the recent terrorist attack in Lahore on June 23, he said that the act of terrorism was carried out with the support of India. He also expressed concern over the silence of the party.
The President said that the international community should play its role in resolving the Kashmir issue in accordance with the resolutions of the UN Security Council.
The President reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthen bilateral cooperation with Turkey and said that there were vast opportunities for enhancing cooperation in the fields of trade, defense and culture.
He also stressed the need to enhance cooperation with Turkey in various fields for the mutual benefit of the two brotherly countries.
The President expressed the hope that the agreement on military training cooperation between the two countries would further strengthen military cooperation.
He also expressed Pakistan’s concern with Turkey over the illicit trade in uranium in India and wondered why the international community was silent on the issue, which could pose a threat to the entire world.
Arif Alawi thanked Turkey for its support to Pakistan in various regional and international venues, especially in Kashmir and the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
Praising the role of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in promoting Turkey’s economic prosperity and unity in the Muslim Ummah, President Arif Alawi praised General Amit Dendar’s services in promoting relations between the two brotherly countries’ armies. Congratulations on getting the distinction.
On the occasion, General Amit Dandar said that Pakistan and Turkey have a long history of cooperation based on common beliefs, values and historical ties.
He said that the people of Turkey consider Pakistanis as their brothers and there was a need to promote cooperation between the two countries in all fields, especially in the field of defense.
He thanked the President for conferring the Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) on him. Earlier, in a special ceremony at the Presidency, the President conferred the Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) on General Amit Dandar.
General Amit Dindar also called on Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and discussed issues of mutual and professional interest with special emphasis on defense and security cooperation between the two brotherly countries.
According to the Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR), the Army Chief said, “We value our fraternal relations with Turkey.”
The two sides agreed to further enhance the relationship between the two forces in matters of training and counter-terrorism. General Amit Dandar appreciated the role of Pakistan Army in playing its role in regional peace and stability and defeating terrorism.
