Islamabad :
The government has planned for a meeting chaired by PM Imran Khan under which matters will be settled with the opposition before the PM’s speech. According to sources, PM Imran Khan will leave the House after the approval of supplementary grants.
The Speaker’s Office has decided to contact the opposition on this issue so that the opposition does not obstruct the speech of the Prime Minister. It may be recalled that the federal budget was successfully passed yesterday. The National Assembly session was chaired by First Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri. After which Asad Qaiser took over the chairmanship of the assembly session and Qasim Soori joined the members for counting.
Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen introduced the Finance Amendment Bill 2021 in the House. Later, the National Assembly passed the Finance Bill 2021 by a majority vote. The opposition also protested when the objections were rejected. Only 14 out of 84 PML-N members were present and 70 were absent on the occasion of budget approval. Out of 56 PPP members, 54 were present in the House while 2 members were absent due to corona virus.
On the other hand, speaking in the National Assembly, Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen slammed the opposition and said that 4 million people would get houses, health cards and interest-free loans for business, then the opposition would be free. “We have an income profile of 1.5 crore people. Those with an annual income of more than 2.5 crore will be arrested if they do not pay taxes,” he said. We will reduce poverty, there will be prosperity in a few years, we are among those who act, not those who talk.
