Warsaw-Tel Aviv Diplomatic Tensions Polish PM: “We will not give money to Israel.”
In a sharp reaction to the Israeli Foreign Minister’s remarks against the law in the Polish parliament, the Polish Prime Minister stressed that Warsaw would not pay any compensation to Tel Aviv for Germany’s hostile actions.
Following the diplomatic tensions between Warsaw and Tel Aviv over the Jewish property law, Polish Prime Minister Matthew Morawiecki strongly criticized the remarks of Foreign Minister Jair Lapid, the second-in-command of the Zionist regime.
“I’m just saying this, as long as I’m the prime minister, Poland will definitely pay nothing for the crimes of the Germans,” Morawiecki told a news conference on Saturday, according to the Haaretz newspaper. “Not a zloty (Polish currency), not a euro, not a dollar!”
“Poland is in no way responsible for the Holocaust, which was the hostile act of the occupying Germany,” the Polish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Under a bill passed by the lower house of Poland on Friday, all property grievances that have not been resolved in the past 30 years will be subject to a statute of limitations and their case will be closed.
Tel Aviv has said a law passed by the lower house of Poland will prevent Jews from taking back their property and will not compensate those who survived the alleged Holocaust.
After the law was passed in the Polish parliament, Lapid called it “shameful” and claimed that the finalization of the law would damage relations between Tel Aviv and Warsaw.
