As pressure mounts on the activities of supporters of Islamic resistance groups in the West, the Federal Parliament of Germany plans to pass a ban on waving the Hamas flag in public places.
More than a year after Berlin called Lebanon’s Hezbollah “terrorist”, reports suggest that the German Federal Parliament is seeking to ban the waving of the Hamas flag in the country.
German officials are seeking to ban the waving of the Hamas flag in German public places in response to rising public support for the Palestinians and the holding of several demonstrations in major German cities against the Zionist regime’s 12-day war with the Gaza Strip.
News outlets such as the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag reported that the ban was expected to be approved by the Bundestag (Federal Parliament of Germany) next week.
In defense of the move against the Palestinian resistance, Thorsten Frey, a leader of the German Christian Democratic Union, called Hamas a terrorist and called for the defense of “Jewish citizens.”
“We do not want the flags of terrorist organizations to be hoisted on German soil,” he told the newspaper. “The approval (banning the waving of the Hamas flag in German public places) clearly shows the support of our Jewish citizens.”
Berlin’s new moves to intensify opposition to Islamic resistance groups came amid growing support for Palestine and opposition to the Zionists in Germany’s largest cities during the 12-day war against the Gaza Strip and growing public support for the Palestinians.
German officials have a long history of taking action against Islamic resistance groups in order to gain the support and satisfaction of the Zionist regime.
It was on May 4, 1999, that the German Interior Ministry called Hezbollah Lebanon a “terrorist organization” and announced that it had banned its activities in the European country.
