Saudi opposition: Saudi secrecy over victims’ bodies in prisons is a horrible scenario.
A prominent Saudi opponent has said that the Saudi government’s lack of transparency about the bodies of victims in prisons is a frightening scenario.
Al-Masira, “Madawi Al-Rasheed”, a prominent Saudi opponent, said that the Saudi regime’s secrecy over the bodies of dozens of executed victims is a horrible scenario.
Madawi al-Rasheed added: “There are cases of torture on the bodies of these victims or they have disappeared.” We should not forget where the body of the critical Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi is now.
Noting that Khashoggi’s family does not know how the Al-Saud regime mutilated his body, she noted that so far the Saudi government has not returned the bodies of the victims to their families and their families still do not know where they are buried. Funeral services are denied according to their beliefs.
Al-Rasheed added: “There are international laws regarding the exchange of bodies, according to which the crimes of the Saudi regime are condemned.”
He added: “We have a country like the octopus that tortures people in prisons and commits crimes against humanity and then hides bodies.”
According to many sources and documents, 83 bodies, along with an unknown number of people of other nationalities, their murder belong to government’s atrocities. Among the detainees are seven minors who were executed by Saudi Arabia and many others killed illegally.
The lack of awareness of the victims’ families about the fate of the bodies or burial sites and the government’s refusal to hand them over, and the lack of confidence in the burial ceremonies in accordance with the religious rites, further tortures the families and increases their suffering.
The government’s refusal to hand over the victims’ bodies and fail to provide information on their fate violates international law.
