Emirates attempt another coup in Turkey
The UAE website Lex reported that the UAE was trying to carry out another coup to overthrow the Justice and Development Party led by Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Sadat Baker, the leader of a Turkish criminal gang, released a video from Dubai accusing a number of Turkish officials, including Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu, of having links to the Mafia.
Wanted in Turkey, he fled to the UAE some time ago and stayed in a hotel in Dubai with the help of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed.
Supporters of Erdogan’s government see the move as an attempt by the UAE to overthrow the Ankara government by targeting Erdogan’s entourage and creating chaos in the country.
The UAE, which hosts and backs Baker, is accused of participating in the failed July 15, 2016 coup attempt in Turkey.
Earlier, the Middle East I website quoted a Turkish intelligence source as saying on condition of anonymity that the UAE had sent money to the coup plotters through Mohammad Dahlan, a close aide to bin Zayed, a few weeks before the coup.
