Syria’s presidential election officially began this morning with the reopening of polling stations across the country, with an estimated 18 million eligible voters.
Damascus: Syrians go to the polls today, Wednesday, to run in the presidential election. Syrians are expected to vote for their candidate from among three candidates: Abdullah Abdullah, Bashar al-Assad, and Mahmoud Marie.
The Syrian presidential election officially began today with the end of the preliminary measures in the polling stations. According to the latest statistics, the number of Syrians who can participate in the elections inside and outside the country is estimated at more than 18 million. Of course, the Syrian presidential election has already been held abroad.
In this regard, Judge Nouri Fars, a member of the Syrian Supreme Judicial Committee, said: “The necessary preparations have been made for the elections. The necessary equipment was installed in the polling stations. Special measures have also been taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in polling stations.
The member of the Syrian Supreme Judicial Committee also added: “At 6 o’clock this morning, polling stations and branches were opened to the representatives of the presidential candidates to ensure the safety of the pre-election elections and the health of the ballot boxes.”
He stated: So far, no violations have been reported regarding the elections. There has also been no violation by candidates since the election began. Earlier, the Syrian Supreme Constitutional Court named Abdullah Salom Abdullah, Bashar al-Assad, and Mahmoud Ahmad Marie as the three qualified candidates to run in the presidential election.
