A secret Nato Arab document shows details about the formation of an anti-Iranian coalition and the excitement of the Saudis.
A Lebanese newspaper reported on access to top-secret documents that the former US administration and some Arab countries in the region, particularly Saudi Arabia, intended to form a large regional coalition against Iran.
Lebanon (Al-Akhbar) newspaper today (Saturday), in a long report, revealed important details of a confidential document regarding the formation of an anti-Iranian coalition in the region.
Al-Akhbar begins the report by saying that former US President Donald Trump, since his first visit to Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, had been looking for the idea of deceiving the “allies” by forming a front; A front that expressed the fear of these countries of what is called the “Iranian enemy”; The idea of reducing the weight of challenges that other allies could not tackle alone; At the same time as these countries continue to be “milked”.
The Lebanese newspaper goes on to say that Trump did not hesitate to implement this approach, and a few months after his trip [to Riyadh], a new chapter of the US “show” with the slogan “Middle East Strategic Coalition” or “Arab NATO”.
The report states that this step was taken in the context of the policy of “maximum pressure” against Iran, and at the same time, the announcement of the intention to form the coalition was accompanied by this action to add a multidimensional frightening factor to the wave of this policy.
Al-Akhbar adds that Saudi Arabia was very excited for such a plan at the time; Saudi Arabia, which “believed” in Trump’s strategy and put all its eggs in one basket. However, some events in the periodic meetings, at the same time as the talk of “Arab NATO” became public, showed that Riyadh “developed” its aspirations in a way that was contrary to the facts.
According to the newspaper, one of the main goals of the Mesa (coalition) is to reform the “protection” of the security of the Arab Gulf states based on Trump’s famous “you must pay” rule, as well as contracts. There have been more weapons with these countries, which Al-Akhbar will continue to discuss in the proposals made by the White House and in more detail in the confidential fund, which was leaked by the Saudi side on July 4, 2019.
