According to a specialized report by the Persian Gulf Economic Studies Center, hundreds of thousands of foreign workers in Saudi Arabia are unemployed due to the country’s economic crisis and are in a state of disarray.
An expert economic report shows that hundreds of thousands of foreign workers have lost their jobs in Saudi Arabia due to the economic crisis in Saudi Arabia and the consequences of the new Coronavirus.
Persian Gulf Economic Studies Center said that this year’s Labor Day in Saudi Arabia was associated with the ongoing consequences of the Coronavirus affecting working conditions.
According to the center, overseas workers in Saudi Arabia are also suffering from widespread government corruption and corruption after resorting to austerity under the pressure of the economic crisis, which has led to ongoing closures, travel bans, and restrictions on economic activities. The wave of layoffs has increased, not only to Saudi citizens but also to migrants, as the effects of the Coronavirus on countries have led to the replacement of foreign or local labor.
Saudi Arabia has suffered the most from the Gulf states, as declining financial revenues from falling oil prices and further suspension of economic activity caused by the Coronavirus have led to the dismissal of hundreds of thousands of foreign workers last year and this year. That resulted in an unemployment crisis.
Abdul Aziz al-Khalidi, head of the economic research unit at the Persian Gulf Center for Economic Studies, said in a statement that the number of Saudi nationals deported during the corona crisis was in the hundreds of thousands.
Al-Khalidi added that the Saudi economy is taking years to recover from the effects of the Corona crisis, confusion, and government failure and that citizens and residents are currently suffering from crises such as rising prices for goods and food and declining government services, as well as taxes.
