Prime Minister Imran Khan called on the opposition to sit together on electoral reforms and choose the model of electronic voting machines to make the elections transparent. He said that democracy would be strengthened only if the elections were transparent.
According to details, Prime Minister Imran Khan in his statement on social networking site Twitter said that the turnout in the N249 by-election was low, despite the low turnout all parties are accusing of rigging, the same in the Senate election and Daska by-election. In every election except 1970, the noise of rigging and the results were questioned.
Imran Khan said that in the 2013 elections, 133 constituencies received complaints of election petitions. We demanded the opening of 4 constituencies. Fraud was proved in all four constituencies. It took a year to form a Judicial Commission against rigging. There were 126 days of sit-ins. Errors pointed out.
The Prime Minister said that unfortunately no concrete electoral reforms have been made, the only way to maintain the credibility of the elections is to use voting machine and technology, the opposition is invited to sit with us on electoral reforms, sit with the opposition and choose models of electronic voting machines.
He further said that Trump did his best to make the 2020 US election controversial, no electoral irregularities could be proved due to the use of technology, he has been asking the opposition for a year to support us in electoral reforms. Imran Khan said that Our government is committed to reforming the electoral system. The use of technology will bring transparency in the electoral system. Only when elections are transparent will democracy be strong.
