In an appeal filed with the Home Secretary, the TLP took a stand that Tehreek-e-Libek is a political party registered with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) which has nothing to do with terrorism. A meeting chaired by the Home Secretary was convened yesterday to review the TLP’s appeal.
Following protests over the deportation of the French ambassador for blasphemy, the Interior Ministry this month banned Tehreek-e-Libya Pakistan under the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997 after approval by the federal cabinet.
The circular summary sent by the Interior Ministry was also approved by the Prime Minister and the Federal Cabinet. The TLP has been declared null and void under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
