The Qatari foreign minister welcomed the recent remarks by the Saudi Crown Prince about “Saudi Arabia having good relations with Iran.”
Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani last night on his Twitter page welcomed bin Salman’s request for good relations between Riyadh and Tehran, saying: “We support neighboring countries, including Iran.”
“We adhere to the UN Charter and respect for the sovereignty of nations as a safety valve for maintaining regional and global security,” the Qatari foreign minister added.
But in a televised interview on Tuesday night, Saudi Arabia changed its tone toward Iran, saying it was a neighbor of Saudi Arabia and that Riyadh wanted good relations with Tehran.
But Saudi Arabia, which had previously said it would drag the war into Iran, now said in a televised interview that “Saudi Arabia wants to establish friendly relations with Iran.”
