Yasser Iskandar, a member of the Security and Defense Commission of the Iraqi Parliament, in an interview with the Al-Malouma news site on Tuesday, said: Iraqi intelligence and aviation units have achieved important results this year by hunting key elements of the ISIS terrorist organization in the four corners of the country. .
The representative of the Iraqi Parliament, presenting statistics on the successful efforts of the security and military intelligence forces of the Iraqi army in rooting out ISIS terrorist leaders, said: “During this year (2023), 10 to 15 key leaders of ISIS have been killed in the special operations of the intelligence security units.”
Yasir Iskandar added: With the surveillance and penetration operations that the security forces carried out in the body of the ISIS terrorist organization in recent months, helped to identify the complex communication layers of the key elements of the ISIS organization as well as their hideouts, and in the series of successful operations of the ground and air forces. Their headquarters and hideouts should be bombed and destroyed.
A member of the Iraqi Parliament’s Defense Commission stated that ISIS has been defeated in Iraq, and with the efforts of the security forces in pursuing and clearing them, only a small number of its secret elements remain in Iraq.
The representative of the Iraqi Parliament emphasized that a large number of the main commanders of Daesh have been killed in airstrikes of the army in different regions of Iraq, including Diyala and Kirkuk provinces, during the past months.
It should be noted that the Iraqi security forces continue to search, clear, and pursue ISIS remnants throughout the country to ensure the re-emergence of ISIS and its fugitive elements.
