Egypt opposed the US request to fill Ukraine’s weapons depots.
Citing Al-Mayadeen, the American newspaper Wall Street Journal reported that Egyptian and American officials have announced that Cairo has opposed Washington’s requests to send weapons to Ukraine.
According to this report, Egypt’s opposition causes the United States to face problems in collecting weapons for Ukraine’s counter-attacks against Russia in the current difficult situation.
The Wall Street Journal continued to write: Cairo initially planned to send missiles to Moscow, but under pressure from the United States, it withdrew from this plan this year.
American officials, including the defense minister of this country, asked Egypt to give weapons to Ukraine in order to fill Ukraine’s empty warehouses. According to the report of this American newspaper, the Minister of Defense of this country made his request last March during the meeting with the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in Cairo.
At the same time, the Egyptian officials did not agree to the request of the American side, and the officials of this country tried to hold other meetings with the Cairo authorities.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Egyptian officials have not categorically opposed the US requests to send weapons to Ukraine, but they have secretly announced that their country does not intend to send weapons to Ukraine.
Stefan Kotter, a member of the Bundestag (German parliament) affiliated with the Alternative for Germany party, had previously announced that this country’s intervention in the Ukraine war may eventually lead to Germany’s conflict with Russia.
He further added: “Sending weapons to Ukraine will not end the war in this country, but will only worsen the situation.” Sending weapons to Ukraine is a wrong move. This is not our war and we should distance ourselves from all these issues and seek to strengthen peaceful plans.
In a conversation with a channel on YouTube, he emphasized: Berlin must maintain its relations with Moscow. Western sanctions against Russia have a negative effect on Germany as well, so the price of energy has increased significantly.
Kotter clarified: destroying the relations between Russia and Germany will weaken the position of our country in the international arena. We must pay attention to the fact that Russia cooperates widely with BRICS and African countries.
This member of the German Parliament is criticizing his country’s policy in supporting the war in Ukraine. Recently, the Associated Press reported, citing two American officials, that the US Department of Defense, also known as the Pentagon, provided $200 million in weapons and ammunition to Ukraine to help continue counter-attacks. It will deliver, as Ukrainian troops on the front lines face significant obstacles against Russia’s staunch defenses.
