French diplomat: China is sending equipment to Russia.
The senior diplomatic adviser of the French president claims that China sends items that can be used as military equipment to Russia on a not very large scale.
Despite America’s acknowledgment that China did not send equipment and military aid to Russia for the war with Ukraine, a French diplomat has a different opinion.
“Emmanuel Boon,” the head of the diplomatic team of the French presidency, claimed yesterday that China is sending items that can be used as military equipment to Russia on a small scale.
“Yes, there are signs that they are doing things that we prefer not to do,” French President Emmanuel Macron’s senior diplomatic adviser said in response to the question of whether the West has seen evidence that China is helping Russia arm Russia against Ukraine, according to Reuters.
During a speech at the Aspen security think tank, in response to another question about whether these aids are weapons, Boone said: “As far as we know, they are some kind of military equipment. Of course, they (China) will not hand over extensive military capabilities to Russia.”
According to Reuters, in an interview with CNN to clarify these statements, French officials said Boon was referring to dual technologies and non-lethal aids such as helmets and bulletproof vests.
In response to a question about the transfer of dual-purpose equipment from China to Russia, a spokesman for the White House National Security Council expressed concern and said: “We have not yet seen the transfer of lethal aid from China to Russia for use on the Ukrainian battlefield, but this is something we are watching.”
According to the report, the US official explained: “We will continue to take action against companies that support Russian war actions, whether they are in the People’s Republic of China or anywhere else in the world.”
According to Reuters, Macron’s office and the Elysee Palace, as well as the Chinese embassy in Paris, have not yet responded to requests for comment on the French diplomat’s remarks.
Previously, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that Beijing was warned about the cost of sending weapons to Russia, and so far there has been no indication of China’s move to send weapons to Russia.
