Iraqi President: Western governments should stop spreading religious hatred.
The president of Iraq stated that after insulting the beliefs of Muslims, Iraqi people have the right to express their anger, and asked the Western governments to stop spreading religious hatred.
Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid issued a statement this afternoon (Saturday) regarding the reaction of the people of this country to the desecration of the Holy Quran.
According to the report of the Public Relations Office of the Iraqi President, Abdul Latif Rashid said: “While we condemn the offensive attack on the Holy Quran and hurting the feelings of Muslims, we ask international organizations and Western governments to stop provocative actions and spreading hatred under any pretext.”
The President of Iraq added: “We ask our dear citizens, political parties, religious and social activists to be careful and not fall into the trap of the seditious plan prepared by vengeful and spiteful personalities and parties in Western countries; People who abuse their laws to implement their dubious goals against Iraq and its people.”
He also pointed out: “The chronological sequence of events indicates that [this program] is purposeful, which only wants to provoke the Iraqi people and make our country appear as an unsafe country for the foreign diplomatic delegation.”
In the end, Abdul Latif Rashid emphasized that Iraqi people and political parties of this country have the right to express their anger against the attacks against their beliefs, provided that they do not harm their country and those Iraqi citizens living abroad.
This statement was issued after some Iraqi citizens planned to attack the Danish embassy this morning following the renewed desecration of the Holy Quran in Europe.
Following the renewed insult to the Holy Quran in Stockholm and Copenhagen, dozens of Iraqi citizens held a protest rally in the Green Zone of Baghdad this morning. The demonstrators, who were preparing to attack the Danish embassy, were dispersed by the presence of security forces. The Holy Quran was insulted three times in Denmark and Sweden in recent weeks.
