Sweden: Muslim protester says he never wanted to burn Torah.
According to Geo News, “Ahmad Alf”, the person who threatened to burn copies of the Torah and the Bible outside the Zionist embassy building in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, announced that he decided to respect other religions. Do not desecrate the holy books of Christians and Jews.
According to this media, this person further said that despite the fact that the Swedish authorities had given him permission to hold a gathering of 3 people in this regard, he did not intend to burn a book.
According to Deutsche Welle, he threw the lighter on the ground and said to those who came there to desecrate the Torah and the Bible: I have never thought of burning any holy book; I am a Muslim, we do not burn (the holy books).
This 32-year-old Syrian-born man emphasized that the main purpose of this protest was to highlight the distinction between exercising the right to freedom of speech and insulting other ethnic groups.
According to Geo News, the organizer of today’s gathering, “Ahmad Al-Af”, clarified that his goal is not to burn holy books, but to condemn those who have recently desecrated the Quran in Sweden.
Regarding his action today, he added: This is a response to people who burn the Quran. I want to show that freedom of speech has limitations that must be considered. I want to show that we have to respect each other, we live in a society. If I burn the Torah, the other the Bible, the other the Koran, there will be a war here. What I wanted to show is that it is not the right thing to do.
In recent weeks, in a belated move, the Swedish government condemned the desecration of the Holy Qur’an in this country and described it as “Islamophobia”.
The statement issued by the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in this regard: The Swedish government fully understands that Islamophobic actions carried out by people in demonstrations in Sweden can be offensive to Muslims. We strongly condemn such actions, which in no way reflect the views of the Swedish government. Burning the Quran or any other holy text is considered an insulting, disrespectful and provocative act. Expressing racism, xenophobia and related intolerance has no place in Sweden or Europe!
In this regard, the Mufti of Oman, “Ahmed bin Hamad Al-Khalili”, asked the Muslims of the world to react to the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden.
