A senior Indian official will visit Syria after 7 years.’
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India announced that after 7 years, India’s first foreign minister will visit Damascus.
“Russia Daily” news website reported that “Murali Dharan” will go to Syria on July 12 and 13 on the first visit of an Indian official to Syria since 2016.
According to this report, India’s Foreign Affairs Minister will hold wide-ranging talks with Syrian leaders in Damascus, and it is expected that this visit will help advance relations between the two countries.
The Indian official will also meet with a number of Syrian students who have studied or are currently studying in India.
India’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the two countries traditionally have warm and friendly relations based on deep ties between the two nations.
India maintained its embassy in Syria during the war in Syria, the Indian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The said statement added that India has also played a significant role in empowering Syrian youth over the years through scholarships and training courses and has hosted a large number of students, businessmen, and patients from Syria.
