China’s Foreign Office Spokesperson Says Beijing Has Always Supported The Palestinian Cause.
According to Reuters, a Chinese Foreign Ministry official announced that next week’s visit of Mahmoud Abbas, the head of the Palestinian Authority, to Beijing is proof of the enduring friendship between the Chinese and the Palestinians.
In this regard, Wang Wenbin, the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, told reporters: “Abbas is an old and loyal friend of the Chinese people and the first Arab head of state to visit China this year.” This visit represents the high-level friendly relations between China and Palestine.”
He added: “China has always supported the just cause of the Palestinian people to restore their legitimate national rights.”
At the beginning of this year, China’s foreign minister, Chin Gang, announced to the Zionist and Palestinian officials that his country is willing to play a constructive role in the Palestinian negotiations. Also, last month, Chinese media announced that China’s Foreign Minister Chin Gang said in a telephone conversation with Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen and Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki that Beijing is ready to mediate between the two sides. According to Xinhua, these talks were held separately and the Chinese Foreign Minister emphasized to his counterparts that the peace talks will be based on a “two-state solution”. The so-called “two-state” solution to resolve the Palestinian-Zionist regime conflict, which in a way legitimizes the fake existence of “Israel”, emphasizes the need for the independence of the Palestinian state alongside Israel within the defined borders before the 1967 war.
Yesterday, news sources announced that Abu Mazen, the head of the Palestinian Authority, will visit Beijing on the invitation of President Xi Jinping from June 13th to 16th, that is, in a few days. Some sources have considered Abu Mazen’s trip to China in line with Beijing’s attempt to resume reconciliation talks between Ramallah and Tel Aviv, which has not been confirmed or denied by official sources.
Last May, a delegation from the Fatah movement met and discussed with officials of the Chinese ruling party about developments in Palestine, especially the issue of Palestinian prisoners. In this meeting, the Chinese delegation, while describing the historical relations between China and Palestine, emphasized on continuing to support the Palestinian people until they achieve their legitimate rights.
